Wartburg Wrestling Captures Its First National Title In 1996
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Wartburg wrestling took home its first ever NCAA Division III National Championship when it posted a final team score of 95.5. The title also marks head coach Jim Miller's first title as a Knight in just his fifth season at the helm.
The Knights were led by a pair of individual national championship winners in Tom Smith (126) and Jamal Fox (142). Mike Alesch (167) earned a runner-up finish while six Wartburg wrestlers received All-American honors.
