Wartburg Wrestling Captures Third National Title In Four Years


EWING, N.J. - In 2006 Wartburg wrestling totaled 145.5 points and captured its third NCAA Division III National Championship in the past four years.

The title marks the fifth championship that head coach Jim Miller has brought back to Waverly, Iowa.

Wartburg was led by individual champions Tyler Hubbard (125) and Dustin Hinschberger (141). The Orange and Black also recorded four second place finishes in Jacob Naig (149), Scott Kauffman (174), Akeem Carter (184) and Blake Gillis (HWT).

Nine Knights earned All-American honors after finishing in the top eight in their respective weight classes.
