Women's Outdoor Track and Field Wins First National Championship
WAVERLY, Iowa - The Wartburg women's outdoor track and field team took home its first ever NCAA Division III National Championship in 2005 when it compiled a total score of 43 points at the meet. Head coach Marcus Newsom recorded his first national title in his seventh year at the helm.

Missy Buttry took home two separate individual national championships in the 1,500-meter run as well as the 5,000-meter run. Heidi Porter (800-meter run), Stephanie Arey (400-meter hurdles) and Bridget Burns (400-meter dash) all finished in an All-American position in their respected events.Â
The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Arey, Burns, Amy Koester and Kelli Marlow recorded the third best time in the event with a 3:46.14 finish.
