Lucas Huffman enters his first official season as an Assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at Wartburg College in 2025–26.
Huffman returns to Waverly after graduating in 2023, having established himself as one of the most successful players in program history. He ranks at the top of multiple all-time records, including Career Singles Wins, Career #1 Singles Wins, Career Doubles Wins, Career #1 Doubles Wins, and Singles Wins in a Season. Under Coach Gustas, Huffman was also a key contributor on two record-setting teams: the 2018–19 Men’s team set a program-best 16 wins, which was later surpassed in 2020–21 with a new record of 25 wins—both seasons with Huffman playing an integral role.
Huffman returns to Wartburg after serving as an Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Coe College. During his time at Coe, he was part of a staff honored as Conference Coaching Staff of the Year, coached two straight Conference MVPs, and helped lead players to two individual conference singles championships. He also worked as an Assistant Tennis Professional at Smithfield Tennis and Pickleball Center in Cedar Rapids.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Huffman was a four-year member of the Wartburg tennis program and graduated in 2023 with a B.S. in Engineering and a B.A. in Business Administration. In high school, he was a two-time team state champion at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa.
