Lovell enters his first season as Assistant Coach (Jumps) for Wartburg Track & Field. A former multi-event standout at the University of Northern Iowa, Lovell brings extensive experience competing across the sprints, hurdles, jumps and combined events after concluding an accomplished collegiate career with the Panthers.

Lovell spent four of his seasons at the University of Northern Iowa, where he competed under Jeff Coover as a Multi-Event athlete and 400-meter hurdler, earning multiple individual top-five finishes and team conference titles in his career. During his career at UNI, Lovell earned Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention honors while competing primarily in the decathlon and heptathlon. Lovell graduated with a double major in Political Communication and Digital Media Journalism in the Spring of 2026. Academically, Lovell was recognized on the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll and received the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award during his career at UNI.

A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lovell graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School, where he was a three-year track and field letterwinner and two-time Drake Relays champion as part of the school's shuttle hurdle relay under head coach Curtiss Pakkabeier. He earned first-team Elite All-State honors as a senior after placing sixth in the high jump at the Iowa High School State Championships and helping Kennedy establish a school record in the shuttle hurdle relay. A four-time Academic All-State selection in football, he also served as a team captain, was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and student government and graduated as his class salutatorian.
