Gunnar Wolfensperger

Gunnar Wolfensperger enters his first season as a full-time assistant coach for women's wrestling in 2025-26.

Wolfensperger has served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Wartburg men's wrestling program for the past five seasons and with the women's wrestling program this past season.

Wolfensperger was previously an assistant coach for men's wrestling at Simpson College from 2019-20. Prior to Simpson, he was the assistant boy's wrestling coach at Denver High School for three years, as well as the strength and conditioning coach for two of those years.

As a student-athlete, Wolfensperger was a three-year member of the men's wrestling team at the University of Northern Iowa.

The Denver, Iowa native was a state champion at Denver High School and helped the Cyclones to two state championships and one runner-up finish. 

He earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from UNI in 2016.

 Wolfensperger will begin his duties at Wartburg on May 5.
