Jared Pirkl

Jared Pirkl '04 is heading into his 14th season as an assistant coach for the Knights in 2025. Pirkl pitched for the Knights during four consecutive IIAC championships and three NCAA national tournament appearances. Pirkl has been a member of the Wartburg coaching staff during four Iowa Conference Championships and four NCAA regional tournament appearances.

He brings 18 years of coaching experience at both the college and high school levels. Most recently has served as an assistant baseball coach at Waverly-Shell Rock, being a part of three state tournament appearances, along with winning a state championship in 2015.He also served as the pitching coach at Mount Mercy University from 2010-11, before joining the Wartburg baseball staff. He was an elementary and middle school teacher and the head baseball coach at Benton Community Schools from 2005-2010. During those five years, Benton was a State Tournament Qualifier in 2009, winning one Sub-state Championship, two District Championships, and the WAMAC Championship in 2009. He was nominated for Northeast Iowa District Coach of the Year in 3A in 2008 and 2009. 

Jared currently teaches sixth grade at Hansen Elementary in Cedar Falls. Jared and his wife, Kelly ('04 graduate of Wartburg) reside in Waverly with their sons Carter, Ben, and twins Noah and Will.
