Second half goal leads way

A pair of second half goals sent Wartburg to a non-conference sweep over St. John’s University of Minnesota and the College of St. Benedict of St. Joseph, Minn.

Head coach Sara Johnson’s first game at the helm of the Knights saw her team upend the host Blazers of CSB 1-0. Junior midfielder Katy Wendt of Bettendorf’s goal in the 85th minute broke up the scoreless tie. Sophomore goalkeeper Monica Noti of Carol Stream, Ill., recorded the shutout in goal with one save, the first of her career. Wartburg held a 14-9 shots advantage.

More notes – The women’s program takes another non-conference trip, this one to Wheaton College of Illinois, Tuesday, Sept. 7, for a 4:30 p.m. start.
