WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg volleyball team moved to 16-5 on the year with sweeps over UW-Eau Claire (25-14, 26-24, 25-21) and UW-LaCrosse (25-9, 25-14, 25-12) Saturday in the final day of its own Knights Classic.
Against the Blugolds, juniors Britlyn Sieck (Fayette) and Monique Davisson (Cedar Rapids) led the team in double-digit kills with 12 and 10, respectively.
Sophomore Ramey Sieck (Fayette) tallied 36 assists running the Knights’ offense and classmate Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) had a team-high 12 digs.
The Orange and Black held the team advantages in kills (48-40), hitting percentage (.385-.248), digs (36-34), team blocks (9-7) and service aces (7-1).
Against the Eagles, the Knights hit an astonishing .615 in the first set alone. The eldest Sieck led the team with her 10 kills in the match.
R. Sieck had 28 assists and senior Kamille VanNatta (Readlyn) had a team-high eight digs.
Wartburg’s defense held UW-LaCrosse to a negative .010 hitting percentage.
The Knights again held the team advantages in kills (35-22), digs (39-35), blocks (9-1) and service aces (1-0).
Britlyn and Ramey were named to the All-Tournament team.
Head coach Jennifer Walker needs one more victory to amass 300 for her career at the helm of Wartburg’s program.
The Orange and Black return to the court Tuesday when they travel to Dubuque for an Iowa Conference match at 7:30 p.m.
