WAVERLY, Iowa—The ninth-ranked Wartburg women’s soccer team (14-1-2 overall) defeated non-conference opponent UW-Eau Claire (9-5-3) 3-1 Sunday afternoon.
Senior Chelsea Frye (Waverly) put the Knights on the board with her first goal of the day at 19:23 on a pass from sophomore Cathy Reiter (La Porte City).
The Blugolds evened the score at 27:39 as Allie Stone put her shot attempt into the lower right hand corner of the net.
This remained the score through halftime until Frye netted her second goal of the day from fellow Waverly native junior Kaylee Benning.
Freshman Brinkly Werkman (Marion) scored her first collegiate goal at 71:02 on her corner kick.
The Orange and Black outshot UW-Eau Claire, 16-7.
Wartburg returns to the field Wednesday when it hosts Iowa Conference opponent, Buena Vista, in the annual Senior Night at 5 p.m.
