Knights Defeat Dutch, Sieck Moves Into Fifth

Britlyn Sieck moves into fifth all-time on Wartburg's list of career leaders in kills.

WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg volleyball team dropped the first set 25-21 to Iowa Conference opponent, Central, Tuesday night, before taking the next three sets (25-12, 25-17 and 25-22) to finish the season 7-1 in IIAC play.

The Knights moved to 22-10 on the year with the win.

Juniors Britlyn Sieck (Fayette) and Monique Davisson (Cedar Rapids) led the team with 14 kills each. Sieck moved into fifth on Wartburg’s list of career leaders in kills.

Younger sister Ramey Sieck (Fayette) tallied 42 set assists running the Knights’ offense and added a double-double with 12 digs.

Classmate Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) had a team-high 15 digs and senior Kamille VanNatta (Readlyn) followed closely behind with 13.

Central was led by seven kills from Ashley Pedersen and Kiley Meyers.

Maggie Snyder had 20 set assists and Chelsea Grieger had 30 digs.

As a team, the Orange and Black held the team advantages in kills (57-41), hitting percentage (.275-.107), digs (67-65) and blocks (5-4).

Wartburg returns to action Saturday at the Augustana (IL) Quadrangular.
