STORM LAKE, Iowa—The Wartburg men’s basketball team (4-5 overall, 1-2 IIAC) fell 65-58 to Iowa Conference opponent, Buena Vista (3-5, 1-1) Wednesday night.
 
The score was tied at 29-29 at halftime and was knotted twice in the second frame until the Beavers began to build their lead.
 
The Knights cut the margin to single digits with 7:10 remaining and brought the score within three with 45 seconds remaining as senior Jordan Sathoff (Packwood) made both of his free throws.
 
The Orange and Black then immediately fouled to regain possession after BV’s Doug Bissen made his two free throws to make the score 61-56 with 39 seconds to go.
 
The Beavers would extend their margin as they made their free throws down the stretch,
 
Sathoff made his last bucket of the night with eight seconds remaining, but unfortunately, it was not enough to overcome BV’s late run.
 
Sathoff led all scorers with his 20 points and sophomore Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls) also finished in double digits with 12.
 
Sathoff pulled down a team-best seven rebounds and Diemer followed closely with six.
 
Wartburg returns to the court Saturday when it hosts Colorado College at 7:30 p.m.
