Defending Iowa Conference champion and 2010 NCAA Division III playoff qualifier Wartburg College has announced its 2011 football schedule.
Coach Rick Willis’ Knights open the 76th year of Wartburg gridiron action Saturday, Sept. 3, with a road trip to Monmouth College of Illinois with kickoff time to be determined. The following weekend, they begin their home schedule inside Walston-Hoover Stadium with a 7 p.m. start against Gustavus Adolphus College of St. Peter, Minn. The 2011 Iowa Conference slate opens Saturday, Sept. 17, with a 1 p.m. home kickoff against Buena Vista.
Wartburg’s remaining schedule is as follows – Saturday, Sept. 24, vs. Coe, 1 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 1, at Cornell, 1 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 8, at the University of Dubuque, 4 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 15, vs. Simpson, 1:30 p.m. (Homecoming 2011); Saturday, Oct. 29, vs. Central, 1 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 5, at Loras, 1 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 12, at Luther, 1 p.m. Other special event dates will be released at a later time.
