Volleyball Splits in Final Day of Invitational

WAVERLY, Iowa--   No. 24 Wartburg (7-2 overall) split its matches on the final day of its own Invitational Saturday. The Knights fell 3-0 to No. 15 Concordia College (8-1) 25-16, 28-26 and 25-22 before sweeping Knox (0-8) 25-16, 25-9 and 25-15.

In the first match of the day, senior Kamille VanNatta (Readlyn) had a double-double as she led the team in kills (12) and digs (19).

Two fellow Knights, classmate Nicole Beer (Boone) and sophomore Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) also had double-digit digs with 14.

Shinstine added a double-double of her own as she had 18 set assists.

Classmate Ramey Sieck (Fayette) tallied 17 assists in the match.

The Cobbers were led by 12 kills from Katie Vohnoutka and 10 from Jenna Green.

In the final match of the tournament against Knox, junior Britlyn Sieck (Fayette) had seven kills while VanNatta and freshman Bailey Wilson (Cedar Rapids) each finished with six.

R. Sieck had 17 set assists and Shinstine tallied 13. Ramey was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Orange and Black conclude their five-game homestand Tuesday when they host Iowa Conference opponent, Buena Vista, in Levick Arena at 7:30 p.m.
