WAVERLY, Iowa- The Wartburg College women’s soccer team (3-0-1 overall) defeated non-conference opponent, the College of Saint Benedict (1-3-0)2-0 Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Kelli Anderson (Cary, Ill.) put the Knights on the board with her second goal of the season at 18:05. Sophomore Anna Aquino (Bettendorf) was credited with the assist.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of Wartburg until senior Chelsea Frye (Waverly) headed a pass from sophomre Rachel Torry (Urbandale) into the top right corner of the net to take the 2-0 lead.

Junior goalkeeper Monica Notti (Carol Stream, Ill.) earned her first shutout win of the season as she stopped all three shots she saw in the game.

Wartburg held the team advantage in shots at 13-8.

The Orange and Black return to the field Wednesday when they travel to face St. Ambrose at 5 p.m.
