WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg (7-2 overall, 1-0 IIAC) hosts Iowa Conference opponent, Buena Vista (2-7, 0-1) Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Knights finished 3-2 last week as they defeated Luther 3-1 on the road in its conference opener Wednesday and finished 2-2 at their own invitational last weekend.
The Orange and Black started the tournament by sweeping then-No. 21 St. Olaf, 25-15, 25-22 and 26-24.
Junior Britlyn Sieck (Fayette) became the newest member to the 1000 career kill club in Wartburg’s program history in the third set of the match. She has 1,029 kills to date which ranks ninth all-time in this category.
The Knights dropped their next two matches to Nebraska Wesleyan and then-No. 15 Concordia-Moorhead before sweeping Knox College to conclude the tournament.
Sophomore Ramey Sieck (Fayette) was named to the All-Tournament team.
B. Sieck leads all hitters with her 107 kills while seniors Nicole Beer (Boone) and Kamille VanNatta (Readlyn) have 144 and 118 digs, respectively.
Sophomore Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) and R. Sieck have 181 and 180 sets assists, respectively to date.
Sophomore Kelly Niemann (Fredrickburg) has a team-high 15 service aces to date and R. Sieck follows closely behind with 12.
Buena Vista:
BVU went 1-4 on the week as it fell 3-0 to Loras in its IIAC opener and went 1-3 at the Bethel University Invite in St. Paul, Minn. The Beavers’ lone win was a sweep against Northland College.
Two BVU players, Lacie Drennan and Kirsten VanZuiden, have triple digit kills with 126 and 102, respectively.
Courtney Van Haaften has 334 set assists to date while Kelsey Essick and Drennan have triple digit digs with 112 and 108, respectively.
Next Game:
The Knights take to the road Friday night when they travel to Dubuque to face Loras at 7:30 p.m. and return home Tuesday, Sept. 20 to host Coe at 7:30 p.m.
