PELLA, Iowa—The 10th ranked Wartburg women’s soccer team increased its win streak to six with its 6-0 win over Iowa Conference opponent, Central, Saturday afternoon.
Three Knights, junior Kelli Anderson (Cary, Ill.), seniors Chelsea Frye (Waverly) and Katy Wendt (Bettendorf), all scored two goals in the outing.
Anderson gave the Orange and Black the 1-0 lead at 10:12. Frye and Wendt’s first scores occurred within two minutes of each other at 20:58 and 22:28. Sophomore Cathy Reiter (Buckingham) had the assist on Wendt's goal.
The score remained 3-0 until Wendt made her penalty kick attempt at 49:25.
Anderson connected on a pass from sophomore Rachel Torry (Urbandale) at 54:05 and Frye netted her team-high fourth goal of the year at 65:53. Junior Mary O’Loughlin (Independence) was credited with the assist.
Junior Monica Noti (Carol Stream, Ill.) recorded her fourth shutout win of the year as she stopped the only shot she saw on the day.
Wartburg held the resounding team advantage in shots at 34-4.
The Knights return to the field tomorrow as they host non-conference opponent, UW-River Falls, at 2 p.m.
