WAVERLY, Iowa—The 10th ranked Wartburg women’s soccer team moved to 7-0-1 on the year with its 6-0 victory over non-conference opponent UW-River Falls (2-7) Sunday. This brings their winning streak to six-straight games.
Senior Chelsea Frye (Waverly) had two goals and classmate Katy Wendt (Bettendorf) finished with three assists on the day.
Frye got things started early for the Orange and Black with her unassisted goal to the lower left-hand corner of the net just 2:13 into the game.
Sophomore Kelli Anderson (Cary, Ill.) doubles Wartburg’s lead at 17:14 as she put a pass from Wendt into the lower left-hand corner of the net.
Senior Jess Macauley (Cedar Rapids) headed sophomore Rachel Torry’s (Urbandale) corner kick past the Falcon’s goalkeeper at 34:41 to give the Knights the 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Junior Mary O’Loughlin (Independence) netted her first goal of the season at 50:56 and Torry scored her third goal of the year just two minutes later on a pass from Wendt.
Frye would be the final goal scorer for Wartburg as her shot rolled in past UWRF’s outstretched goalie at 59:27.
Sophomore Monica Noti (Carol Stream, Ill.) made two saves and newcomer Katie Reinhardt (Waverly) make three saves as they split time in goal.
The Knights held the team advantage in shots at 18-8.
The Orange and Black return to action Friday when they host Iowa Conference opponent, Luther, at 6 p.m.
