MOUNT VERNON, Iowa--Wartburg snapped Cornell’s seven-game winning streak with its 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-19) sweep Wednesday night. With the win, the Knights move to 13-4 on the year and 4-1 in Iowa Conference play and the Rams are 11-2, 1-2.
Head Coach Jennifer Walker needs one more win to amass 300 for her career and four more to eclipse that mark for her time at Wartburg.
Juniors Britlyn Sieck (Fayette) and Monique Davisson (Cedar Rapids) co-led the team with 10 kills each. Sophomore Ramey Sieck (Fayette) recorded a double-double with her 33 assists and 10 digs. Classmate Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) had a team-high 20 digs and three service aces.
Two other players, freshman Karly Bown (Lincoln, Neb.) and senior Kamille VanNatta (Readlyn), had double digits digs with 13 and 10, respectively.
The Rams were led by 15 kills from Kathleen O'Connor.
Wartburg held the team advantages in kills (39-29), hitting percentage (.250-.060), digs (64-61), service aces (5-4) and blocks (9-3).
The Orange and Black return to the court Friday at their own Classic against No. 11 St. Thomas at 6 p.m.
