DUBUQUE, Iowa—The Wartburg College women’s tennis team rolled past Iowa Conference opponents, Loras and Dubuque 9-0 to open its fall season Saturday.
Against the Duhawks, Lindsay Greiner and Jenny Dallenbach started things off with their 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The Knights won 8-0 at No. 2 (Claire Evans and Leanna Jenkins) and No. 3 doubles (Michelle McKenzie and Brita Jensen).
In singles play, Evans won 6-1 and 6-1 at the No.2 spot. Dallenbach won in straight sets at No. 3 and Jesse Behrer won 6-2 and 6-2 at the No. 5 position.
Against the Spartans, the Knights were victorious in the same fashion as the earlier match in doubles play.
Greiner and Dallenbach won 8-2 at No.1, Evans and Jenkins and McKenzie and Jensen 8-0 at the No. 2 and 3 spots.
In singles play, Greiner won 6-0 and 6-1 at the No. 1 position, Evans won 6-1 and 6-1 at No. 2 and Dallenbach won 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 3.
Jenkins defeated her opponent 7-5 and 6-1 at No. 4 singles, Behrer won 6-1 and 6-2 at No. 5 and Jenson won 6-2 and 6-2 at No. 6.
The Orange and Black returns to action next Saturday against Lawrence and host-UW-River Falls.
