WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg men’s basketball team (9-11 overall, 3-8 IIAC) snapped a five-game losing skid to Iowa Conference opponent, Luther (15-4, 9-2) with its 62-53 win Saturday.
Three Knights, senior Jordan Sathoff (Packwood) and sophomores Thomas Perkins (Sun Tan Valley, Ariz.) and Mitchell Murphy (Cresco) finished in double-digits with 18, 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Sathoff made 10 free throws for second time in his career and finished a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.
Sathoff and classmate Darian Patterson (West Chester) led the team on the glass as each had eight rebounds.
The Orange and Black took the 35-30 lead at halftime.
In the second frame, the Norse opened on a 12-6 run over the first seven minutes to take the one point lead. The lead changed hands four times over the next 11 minutes and was tied 50-50 with 3:02 remaining.
Wartburg compiled a 3-0 run but the Nrose answered with a trey at 2:44 left to knot the score at 53 all.
The Knights finished the game on a 9-0 run to take the win.
The Orange and Black return to action Wednesday when they travel to face Cornell at 8 p.m.
