Box Score
WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg men’s basketball team outscored Iowa Conference opponent, Central, 41-33 in the second half Wednesday, but was unable to overcome the first half margin as the Knights fell 76-69 to the Dutch.

Central took the 43-28 lead at halftime, but Wartburg compiled a late rally in the second frame to whittle the spread to six points with 3:32 to play.

The Dutch went on a 7-4 run over the next three minutes, but Drew Crawford (Marion) cut the lead to six with his three-pointer with 0:32 left. Crawford then fouled Demarco Turner to send him to the line. Turner’s two successful free throws increased the lead to eight with 28 seconds to go. Senior Jordan Sathoff (Packwood) helped the Orange and Black answer with his trey with 0:20 left.

Turner was fouled again and made both of his free throws to increase the Dutch’s lead to seven with 0:10 on the clock.
The Knights were unable to run a successful last possession play to give Central the win.

Sathoff led all scorers with his 26 points and sophomore Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls) joined him in double digits with his 12 points.

Sathoff narrowly missed a double-double with his team-best nine rebounds. Diemer finished closely behind with eight boards.

The Dutch were paced by 16 points from Turner, 14 from Chris Lehmann and 11 from Brock Caves and KJ Cool. Nick Marinkovich rounded out the leading scorers with his 10 points.

Central moved to 10-1 overall and 4-0 in IIAC play while Wartburg moved to 7-6, 1-3.

The Orange and Black continue their conference schedule Saturday on the road against Coe at 4 p.m.
