WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's soccer team (12-4-1 overall) narrowly fell 2-1 to Dubuque (11-6-2) Wednesday night in a semifinal game of the Iowa Conference tournament.

The Spartans advanced to the championship game Saturday and will face top-seed Loras.

Dubuque got on the board quickly as Megain Siepler connected on a pass from Melanie Prudhomme 12 seconds into the game.

The Spartans took the 2-0 lead at halftime as Elizabeth Frazier put her shot into the lower right corner of the net at 33:43. Lauren Waddell was credited with the assist.

Junior Anna Aquino (Bettendorf) sliced the lead in half as she netted her fifth goal of the year at 62:48 on a free kick.
