Top Seeded Wartburg Advances to IIAC Tournament Championship

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Top-seeded Wartburg volleyball (31-5 overall) advanced to the Iowa Conference Tournament Championship match with its 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16) win over Luther Thursday night. Wartburg's win total sets a new single season school-record mark.

Three Knights tallied double-digits as sophomore Bailey Wilson (West Des Moines) had 15 kills, just one shy of her career-best.

Junior Maddie Forsyth (Charles City) had 13 kills and senior Britlyn Sieck (Fayette) had 10.

Junior Ramey Sieck (Fayette) recorded 42 set assists running the Orange and Black's offense.

Two players had double-digit digs as junior Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) had a team-best 16 and sophomore Kelsey Coleman (Iowa City) had a career-best 10.

Classmate Karly Bown (Lincoln, Neb.) also had a career night at the service line with her four aces.

As a team, Wartburg held the advantages in kills (53-43), assists (50-40), digs (58-51), service aces (8-6) and hitting percentage (.216-.142).

The Knights will host third-seeded Loras Saturday in the Conference Tournament Championship game.

The match will be televised live on KCRG digital channel 9.2 at a to-be-determined time.
