WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg men’s basketball team (11-12 overall, 5-9 IIAC) lost a heartbreaker to Iowa Conference opponent, Loras (6-18, 3-12), 69-67, Saturday afternoon.
The Duhawks took the two-point lead with 1.6 seconds remaining and the Knights’ half-court last second shot hit the rim, but did not fall in.
Junior Drew Crawford (Marion) led the Orange and Black with his career-high 13 points and senior Kirk Sidey (Greenfield) joined him in double digits with his 10 points on the game.
Sophomore Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls) led the team on the glass with his eight rebounds.
Wartburg held the team advantage in field goal percentage (.500-.491) and three-point field goal percentage (.571-.308).
Four Loras players tallied double figures and was led by 12 points from Aaron Schueller. Brian Gaughan and Tim Kelly had 11 and Dan Pawelski contributed 10.
The Knights return to the court Wednesday against Coe at 8 p.m. in their home finale.
