EAU CLAIRE, Wis.-- The Wartburg womens tennis team (3-2 overall) fell 8-1 to non-conference opponent, UW-Eau Claire, Saturday morning.
Senior Claire Evans (Alden) recorded the Knights' lone point of the match with her 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.
At the top spot, classmate Jenny Dallenbach (Decorah) fell 6-1, 6-2 and freshman Melissa Davis (Lakewood, Colo.) was defeated 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.
Classmate Katherine Ross (Littleton, Colo.) fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and senior Michelle MacKenzie (Waverly) was defeated 6-4, 6-2 at the fifth spot.
Classmate Brita Jensen (Richfield) fell 6-3, 6-1 to round out the singles competitors.
In doubles play, Davis/Evans were defeated 8-1 at the No. 1 spot. Dallenbach/MacKenzie fell 8-4 and Ross/Jensen lost 8-4.
Against St. Norbert's, Davis was victorious 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, Ross won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3, Evans defeated her opponent, 6-0, 6-1 and MacKenzie won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5.
Dallenbach fell 6-3, 7-5 at the top spot and Jensen fell 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.
In doubles play, Davis/ Evans combined for the 8-2 win at the top spot while Dallenbach/MacKenzie won 8-3 at No. 2.
Jensen/Ross fell 8-4 to round out the doubles competitors.
The Orange and Black return to the court Tuesday on the road against Luther at 4 p.m.
