ST. JOSEPH'S, Minn.-- The No. 22 Wartburg women's soccer team (5-1-1 overall) drew a 2-2 double-overtime tie on the road against the College of Saint Benedict (3-1-2) Sunday.
Alyssa Hoffman put the Blazers on the board first with her unassisted goal at 17:23.
Hoffman extended the margin to two with her second goal of the day at 35:35 as she connected on a cross from Colleen Bouchard.
The score remained 2-0 until senior Kaylee Benning (Waverly) scored her team-high sixth goal of the year on a penalty kick at 68:02 to slice St. Ben's lead in half at 2-1.
Classmate Cathy Reiter (Buckingham) knotted the score with her unassisted goal with just under a minute left in regulation (89:04).
In the two extra sessions, the Blazers held the slim one shot advantage (5-4) but both teams were unsuccessful in scoring to end the game in a tie.
The Knights return to the field Tuesday when they travel to Northfield, Minn. to face St. Olaf at 4 p.m.
