#15 Volleyball to Compete in UW-Whitewater's Tournament

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 15 Wartburg volleyball team (14-1 overall) will compete in UW-Whitewater's Tournament this weekend.

The Knights dropped their season-opener against defending National Champion and then-No. 5 Wittenburg on Aug. 31, but have won a school-record 14-straight matches since that time.

The Orange and Black will face former Iowa Conference opponent, Cornell, Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 11 Elmhurst College at 7 p.m.

Wartburg will place No. 12 and host-UW-Whitewater Saturday at 10 a.m. and UW-Oshkosh at noon.

The Knights will play a ranked team for the first time since the opening weekend of the season.

A Look at the Teams:
Cornell (8-6):

Kathleen O'Connor and Taylor Dicus lead the team with 175 and 126 kills, respectively. Sabrina Hargis has 353 assists while O'Connor also leads the team at the service line with 17 aces.

Elmhurst (11-4):
Four players have ecliped triple digits in kills and are led by 155 from Neya Veasy Smith. Erin Thill has 328 assists and Sa Szarmach has 15 service aces.

UW-Whitewater (12-5):
Leanna Lillge leads the Warhawks with 205 kills and Jessica Sabey joins her in triple digits with 105 to date.

Kim Frei has 354 set assists and Jaclyn Krizka has 18 service aces.

UW-Oshkosh (11-7):
This will be the second time this season Wartburg will face the Titans. The two teams previously met this season at Bethany Lutheran's tournament where the Knights won 3-0.

Three players have surpassed the century mark in kills and are led by 152 from Brianna Wagner. Morgan Liebretrau has 481 assists and Mandy Trautmann has 17 service aces.

Wartburg:
Four players are in triple digit kills and are led by 210 from senior Britlyn Sieck (Fayette). Juniors Maddie Forsyth (Charles City), Kelly Niemann (Fredricksburg) and Ramey Sieck (Fayette) follow with 128, 119 and 112, respectively.

Ramey has 512 assists running the offense and also leads the team with her 17 service aces.

Classmate Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) has 235 digs to date.
