Knights Remain Undefeated in IIAC, Murphy Becomes Career Assist Leader

STORM LAKE, Iowa-- Wartburg remained undefeated (5-0) in Iowa Conference play in its 88-77 win over Buena Vista Saturday.

The Knights are now 10-5 on the year and the Beavers are 11-5, 3-2.

Senior Mitchell Murphy (Cresco) had a big day as he not only recorded a career-high 25 points, but became the program's all-time career assist leader. He surpassed Casey Cason's 300 assists and as he has 302 in his four years in a Knights uniform. Cason played from 1986-88.

Classmate Jake Reinhardt (Waverly) joined Mitchell in double figures with a career-best 15 and junior Brandon Flenor (Baltimore, Md.) tallied 13 points.

The score was knotted 38 all at halftime and the Orange and Black used a .667 field goal percentage in the second half to outscore the Beavers 50-39.

Wartburg opened the second frame on a 9-4 run in the first two minutes to take the lead for good.

The Knights continue their two-game road swing Monday when they travel to face Loras at 8 p.m.
