WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team (13-6 overall, 3-0 IIAC) swept Simpson (12-3, 1-2) 25-22, 25-20 and 25-16 Wednesday. The Knights increased their winning streak to nine and halted the Storms' string at four.

Senior Maddie Forsyth (Charles City) had a team-best 11 kills and junior Bailey Wilson (West Des Moines) joined her in double digits with 10.

Wilson had a team-high .412 hitting percentage and senior Kelly Niemann (Fredricksburg) was second with .368.

Classmate Ramey Sieck (Fayette) tallied 27 set assists as she ran the Orange and Black's offense and Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) had 12 digs in the back row.

Junior Karly Bown (Lincoln, Neb.) had six service aces in the match, just two shy of her career mark.

Wartburg's defense held Simpson to a .000 team hitting percentage in both the first and third sets. The Knights also held the team advantage in blocks (7-4), service aces (11-5)

The Orange and Black return to the court Friday when they open competition at their own Knights Classic.
