WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's soccer team (7-9-1 overall, 4-2-0 IIAC) defeated Iowa Conference opponent, Simpson (4-14-1, 2-3-1) in shutout fashion, 2-0, Saturday.

The game was scoreless through halftime.

Junior Ashley Kerns (Ames) scored her third goal of the season off a pass from classmate Ashley Frush (La Porte City) at 51:20 to give the Knights the 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Brittany Frush (La Porte City) netted her team-high sixth goal of the year off the rebound of senior Lauren Bauer's (La Porte City) shot attempt.

Freshman Sophie Perez (Cedar Falls) recorded her second win and first shutout win in net.

The Orange and Black return to action Tuesday when they host Luther at 5 p.m. in their regular season finale.
