WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg men's basketball team (13-8 overall, 8-3 IIAC) defeated Simpson (6-16, 2-9) 74-62 Wednesday.

Junior Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls) recorded his third double-double of the season with his 18 points and 10 rebounds, which included six offensive rebounds.

Senior Jake Reinhardt (Waverly) and sophomore Dan Van Groningen (Oak Forest, Ill.) joined him in double digits with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Van Groningen finished a perfect 4-4 from the field, including 2-2 from three-point land. He was one point shy of his career high.

The Knights owned the 38-26 lead at halftime and had a double-digit margin for the entire second frame.

The Orange and Black held the team advantages in field goal percentage (.508 vs. .448), three-point field goal percentage (.438 vs. .308), free throw percentage (.500 vs. .333), rebounds (44-30) and blocks (3-1).

Wartburg returns to action Saturday when it travels to face Coe at 4 p.m.
