WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg softball team (4-22 overall, 0-8 IIAC) hosts No. 17 Central (23-6, 7-1) in a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m.
Wartburg softball’s Class of 2013 will be recognized in between games.
A Look at the Teams:
Central:
Abby Strajack leads the team with a .429 average and two triples. Caitlyn Meyer follows closely behind at .426 and has a team-high five home runs.
Four fellow Dutch are averaging above .300. Emily TeBrink is hitting .388, Katie Canney .366; Whitney Sowers, .352; and Annie Sarcone, .345.
Sarcone has a team-best 22 RBIs.
Kelsey Stender leads the pitchers with a 1.00 ERA and is 8-3 in 70.1 innings pitched.
Wartburg:
Freshman Savannah Wartburton (Altoona) leads the team with a .281 batting average, one home run and 12 RBIs.
Sophomore Katie Wyman (Springville) is second at .257 ,and senior Ashley Bienemann (Alburnett) follows at .234.
Sophomore Tori Herzberg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.) leads the pitching group with a 3.89 ERA in 59.1 innings.
