WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 17 ranked Central softball team won the doubleheader against Wartburg Saturday.
The Dutch took the first game 13-1 in five innings and 6-0 in the nightcap.
Central took the early 3-0 lead in the first but the Knights got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame as freshman Savannah Wartburton (Altoona) drove in senior Stacey Kayser (Jesup) on her double to deep left centerfield.
The Dutch plated one in the second, two in the fourth and seventh in the fifth to take the first game.
Sophomore Jess Brunko (Independence) went 2-2 at the plate and Warburton finished 2-3.
In the final game, Central scored three runs in the first and third innings.
The Knights return to the field Wednesday when they travel to face Dubuque.
