Football Travels to Face No. 8 Bethel

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg football team (1-0 overall) travels to Arden Hills, Minn. to face No. 8 Bethel Saturday at 1 p.m.

This will be the season opener for Bethel which also received the No. 8 ranking in the D3Football.com poll for week one.

A Look at the Teams:
Wartburg:

The Knights won its season opener 58-7 over MacMurray last week.

Sophomore Brandon Domeyer (Manchester) started the scoring with his 17-yard run with 0:41 left in the first quarter.

Senior Taylor Jacobsmeier (Wapello) scored his first touchdown of the day, this one for a 39-yard run with 12:33 left in the second.

Sophomore Logan Schrader (Killdeer, Ill.) threw a 23-yard pass to Will Ebert with 0:19 left in the half.

In the third quarter, Jacobsmeier had his second touchdown run of the day, this one for 10-yards with 13:47 remaining.

Senior Ryan Billings (Sterling, Ill.) intercepted a pass at MacMurray's 25-yard line and ran it in for the score with 12:53 left.

Mitch Rahm caught a four-yard touchdown pass from Jacobsmeier with 9:22 left and sophomore Michael Bohlke made a 37-yard field goal with 3:08 remaining.

It was all JJ Hanus on his touchdown drive as he was the ball carrier on the entire scoring drive with 3:36 left in the game.

MacMurray scored its lone touchdown on a three-yard run with 00:36 remaining.

Jake Haberman was the leading rusher for the Knights with 64 yards.

Schrader threw for 187 yards as he was 13-19-1. Junior Donald Miller (Maywood, Ill.) was the team's leading receiver with four catches for 87 yards.

Bethel:
The Royals were ranked No. 8 in the D3Football.com Preseason Top 25 poll for the third time in program history the Royals have been in the preseason Top 10.

Head Coach Steve Johnson returns for his 25th season and has a career record of 173-78.

Bethel was picked to finish second in the MIAC conference standings, behind No. 2 St. Thomas.
