WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team (7-6 overall, 1-0 IIAC) swept Iowa Conference opponent, Central (3-8, 0-1) 25-18, 25-7 and 25-15 Tuesday to start the conference portion of its schedule.

Three Knights tallied double digit kills and were led by 14 from senior Kelly Niemann (Fredricksburg). Junior Bailey Wilson (West Des Moines) had 11 and senior Maddie Forsyth (Charles City) followed with 10.

Senior Ramey Sieck (Fayette) had 37 set assists as she ran the Orange and Black's offense, which had a team hitting percentage of .333 on the night. Wartburg hit a staggering .632 in the second set and held the Dutch to a negative .318 in the frame.

The Knights' defense held Central to a negative .051 hitting percentage on the night.

Senior Marissa Shinstine (Tripoli) had a team-best 11 digs and Sieck had a team-high two service aces.

The Orange and Black are off from competition this weekend and travel to Dubuque to face Loras next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
