WAVERLY, Iowa-- A 51-point second half scoring effort by Wartburg propeled it to an 81-64 win over Bethany Lutheran Saturday.
The Vikings led 31-30 at halftime but the Knights opened the second half on an 11-5 run over the first four minutes to regain the lead for good.
The Orange and Black led by as many as 24 points in the frame.
Three Wartburg players finished in double digits and was led by 19 from senior Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls), just three points shy of his career-high. Classmates Thomas Perkins (Sun Valley, Nev.) followed with 14 and Chris Thomas (Orlando, Fla.) had 11.
Diemer also led the team on the glass with eight rebounds while Thomas had seven.
The Knights open their Iowa Conference schedule Wednesday on the road against Dubuque at 8 p.m.
