WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Wartburg volleyball team (20-7 overall) will travel to Oshkosh, Wisc. this weekend for the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. Friday, the Knights will face the University of Wisconsin River Falls (9-14) at 5:30 p.m. and Clark College (14-13) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Orange and Black take on No. 14 Carthage College at 10 a.m. and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (24-3) at noon.
A Look at the Teams
WartburgThe Knights are on a two-game win streak and coming off back to back sweeps over the University of Dubuque and Luther College.
The Orange and Black are led by senior Bailey Wilson (West Des Moines) 267 kills, 3,38 kills per set and she boasts a hitting percentage of .389. Sophomore Claire Willenbring (Dyersville) has 186 kills while juniors Kayln Ertz (Mediapolis) and Kaity Brouwer (Dike) both have over 125. On the defensive side, Jamie Farley (Cedar Falls) has 370 digs.
River FallsThe Falcons have lost their past six games after winning four-straight. They lost their past two at their own UW-River Falls tournament to Bethel 3-2 and UW-Stout 3-1.
They are led by juniors Rebecca Gasper (New Berlin, Wis.) 204 kills, Brianna Muetzel (Oakdale, Minn.) 187 and Lisa Keppers (Avon, Minn.) 171. Junior Lexi Pingel leads the team on the defensive side with 416 digs.
ClarkThe Penguins are on an 11-game win streak and are coming off two straight sweeps over Whatcom and Yakima Valley.
Sophomores Jazmyn Boyd-Clark (Troutdale, Ore.) and Bailee Cragun (Vancouver Wash.) each have over 100 kills while Brenda Gonzales (Brooks, Ore.) has 391 assists.
CarthageThe Lady Reds are on a five-game win streak and are coming off a 3-1 win over Augustana.
They are led by junior Emily Heuermann (Washington, Ill.) 286 kills and senior Rachel Fields (Chicago, Ill.) 274. Junior Karen Chin (Mundelein, Ill.) has 966 assists and senior Hanna Cahoon (Watertown, Wis.) has 402 digs.
UW-OshkoshThe Titans are on a six-game winning streak, and face UW-Platteville Wednesday.
Junior Katelyn Malcheski (Little Suamico, Wis.) leads the team with 326 kills, sophomore Lexi Thiel (Hortonville, Wis.) has 385 assists and junior Mandy Trautmann (Seymour, IA.) has 564 digs.
