Storm Narrowly Surpass Knights

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg (11-11 overall, 5-6 IIAC) fell 68-61 to Simpson (4-18, 2-9) Wednesday night.

The Knights outscored the Storm, 40-35, in the second-half but it was just not enough. The Orange and Black sliced the margin to four (65-61) with 14seconds remaining.

Wartburg quickly fouled after senior Thomas Perkins (Sun Valley, Nev.) trey to attempt to get the ball back on Simpson's one and one free throw attempt.

The Storm made both to build their lead to six with six seconds to go.

After a missed shot from the Knights, they quickly fouled again with three seconds to play. Simpson made the front end of its one-and-one to and freshman Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) got the defensive rebound.

The Orange and Black brought the ball up the floor and attempted a three-point shot as time expired.

Freshman Nick Webber (Peosta) had a career-high 15 points and Cannon joined him in double figures with 12.

Wartburg concludes its two-game homestand Saturday when it hosts Luther at 4 p.m.
