Cannon's Career Night not Quite Enough as Wartburg Falls to Buena Vista

Box Score
STORM LAKE, Iowa-- Freshman Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) scored a career-high 22 points Tuesday, but it wasn't quite enough as Wartburg fell 85-83 to Buena Vista in the first-round of the Iowa Conference tournament.

Seniors Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls) and Thomas Perkins (San Valley, Nev.) joined him in double digits with 18 and 16 points, respectively.

BV lead 46-43 at the half and was ahead by as many as nine points in the second frame.

The Knights whittled the margin to one (75-74) with 2:44 left. The Beavers answered and built their lead to four (83-79) with 0:15 to play.

Perkins sliced the margin to one with his trey with eight seconds left.

Buena Vista made two free throws to make it a three-point game and a free throw by Tanner Kramer made the score 85-83 with two seconds left. The second free throw was short and the Orange and Black's last-second shot attempt was unsucessful.

Wartburg ends the season 13-13 overall.
