Huge Second Half Propels Wartburg Past Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa-- A huge second-half effort and three Knights finishing in double digits helped Wartburg seal the season sweep over Loras Saturday.

The Knights moved to 10-10 on the year and 5-5 in conference play with their 85-80 win.

The Duhawks were ahead 38-32 at halftime but the Orange and Black opened the second half on a 13-5 run over the first four minutes to take the 45-43 lead.

Neither team led by more than six points through the half and the game was tied for the 11th time (76-76) with 3:26 to play.

Wartburg built its lead to six with 1:01 to go, but Loras sliced the margin to three with 0:05 on the clock.

Freshman Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) made his two free throws to put the game out of reach as time expired.

Senior Taylor Jacobsmeier (Wapello) had a career-high 22 points on the game. Classmate Eddie Diemer (Cedar Falls) and Cannon joined him in double figures with 17 and 13 points, respectively.

The Knights return to the court Wednesday when they open a two-game homestand against Simpson at 8 p.m.
