Box ScoreINDIANOLA, Iowa-- The Wartburg men's basketbal team (11-8 overall, 4-4 IIAC) completed the season sweep over Simpson (6-13, 1-7) Saturday in its 74-67 win.
Four Knights finished in double digits and were led by 18 points from sophomore Nick Webber (Peosta). Freshman Nate Woeste (Atkins) had 16, senior Clay Cook (West Branch) had a double-double with 12 points and as many rebounds and sophomore Jordan Cannon (Bolingbrook, Ill.) had 10 points.
The Orange and Black took the slim 35-33 lead into the locker room at halftime and after the Storm rallied to take the lead for most of the second half, Wartburg battled back to tie the score at 60 all with 4:51 to play. An 8-5 run over the next three minutes allowed the Knights to build their margin to three with 1:22 to go.
A four point run by Woeste (layup and two free throws) gave the Orange and Black the seven-point lead with 29 seconds remaining. A layup by Simpson cut the lead to five with eighteen seconds to go, but Webber sealed the win with his two free throws.
Wartburg returns to the court Wednesday against Coe at 8 p.m.
