Volleyball Travels to Face Dubuque, Competes in St. Kate's Tournament


WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team (17-3 overall, 3-1 IIAC) travels to face Dubuque (12-12, 2-2) tonight and will compete in the St. Catherine tournament this weekend. The Knights enter the week on an eight-match winning streak.

The Series
The Knights hold the all-time series lead over the Spartans at 39-23 and have won the last ten straight meetings. This will mark the first meeting in program history with Crown. Wartburg leads the series at 5-1 over UW-Superior and 6-2 against St. Catherine.

Wartburg
Senior Krystal Graves (Cedar Falls) leads the team with 204 kills. Junior Claire Willenbring (Dyersville) follows with 185 and senior Kaity Brouwer (Dike) has 127 kills. Senior Emma Harmeyer (West Des Moines) had 487 set assists co-running the offense. Sophomore Maria Brown (Peosta) and senior Jamie Farley (Cedar Falls) each have 18 service aces.

National Stat Rankings
Wartburg ranks in the top 100 of 13 statistical categories, which the NCAA released Tuesday. The Knights rank 27th in digs per set (18.45), 27th in match win-lose percentage (.850), 43rd in team attacks per set (37.22), 56th in opposing hitting percentage (.119), 56th in hitting percentage (.216), 62nd in kills per set (12.49), 67th in blocks per set (1.84), 68th in assists per set (11.53) and 72nd in team digs (1,347). The Orange and Black also rank 72nd in team total blocks (134.5), 92nd in team kills (912), 93rd in team assists (842) and 97th in team total attacks (2,717).

Individually, three Knights rank in the top 100 of three statistical categories. Farley ranks 15th in digs per set (5.74) and 51st in total digs (390). Brouwer and Graves  both rank in hitting percentage, ranking 80th (.321) and 92nd (.313), respectively.

Dubuque
Klaudia Basierak has a team-best 331 kills. Three fellow Spartans join her above the century mark in kills. Kristin Wright leads the team from the service line with 24 aces while Alyssa Cose follows closely with 23.

Macalester (13-7):
Clara Baumann has 205 kills, Brooke Hunter has 174 and India Medaris has 167. Arianna Hesterberg has 41 service aces.

Crown (6-13):
Katie Hinkle leads her team with 111 kills and Miranda Brueggeman has a team-best 17 service aces.

UW-Superior (15-8):
Stephanie Bandelin leads the Yellow Jackets with 283 kills while Ashlee Bayer has 175 and Bailey Romans has 160. Emily VerWay has 25 service aces.

St. Catherine (11-8):
Alyssa Besch is the team's leading hitter with 176 kills. Megan Lindenfelser is second with 125 and Sabrina Astar has 123. Hayley Levenhagen is the top server with 21 aces.
