WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team won the Iowa Conference regular season title with the 3-2 win over Buena Vista Tuesday. This was the first title since 2013 and the Knights have won three of the past four. This was the fourth regular season crown for the program.
The Orange and Black won the first set 25-17, BV won the second 25-17, Wartburg won the third 27-25, BV claimed the fourth 25-18 and the Knights won the match and the fifth set 15-12.
WARTBURG vs. BUENA VISTA HIGHLIGHTSJunior Claire Willenbring (Dyersville) had a team-high 14 kills while senior Kaity Brouwer (Dike) joined her in double digits with 10. Sophomore Maria Brown (Peosta) had 19 set assists and senior Emma Harmeyer (West Des Moines) followed closely with 18 as they co-ran the offense.
Senior Jamie Farley (Cedar Falls) led the defense with 20 digs, Brown had 14 and Harmeyer had 12. Junior Maddie Miller (Johnston) had two service aces.
WARTBURG vs. BUENA VISTA FULL GAMEWith the win, Wartburg is the top seed in the Iowa Conference tournament and will have a first-round bye. They will host an opponent to be determined after Tuesday's matches on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
