No. 21 Wartburg Shuts Out Buena Vista

WAVERLY, Iowa-- No. 21 Wartburg moved to 7-1 on the season and 4-1 in Iowa Conference games in the 55-0 win over Buena Vista (1-7, 0-5) Saturday. This was the Knights' fifth shutout win in program history over the Beavers: 32-0 in 1998; 35-0 in 2001; 38-0 in 2007 and 28-0 in 2010. This is the most shutouts the Orange and Black have against any of the current Iowa Conference opponents as the next opponent would be two over Coe in series history.

Wartburg also set a new single-game school record in passing yards with 431 which broke the mark of 388 set against Bethel last season.

The Knights' defense held BV to 68 yards on the ground.

Individually, senior Brandon Domeyer (Manchester) had a team-high 39 yards rushing and had two TDs. Junior Jake Haberman (Clarion) also had two TDs on 30 yards.

Senior Logan Schrader (Kildeer, Ill.) threw for 375 yards and was 25-29-1 with a touchdown. Freshman Matt Sacia (Eldridge) was 6-7 for 56 yards.

Sophomore Riley Brockway (Postville) had a team-high eight receptions for 102 yards. Senior Mitch Rahm (Wesley) had a team-best 129 yards on six catches and had a touchdown.

Classmate Gunner Tranel (Vinton) led the defense with seven tackles (six solo and two assists) and had two tackles for a loss of nine yards.

The Orange and Black return to the gridiron next Saturday when they host Simpson at 1 p.m. The football class of 2016 will be honored before the game.
