Wartburg Moves Winning Streak to Six in 3-1 Win over Coe

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team won its sixth-straight match with the 3-1 win (25-19, 25-23, 11-25, 25-21) over Coe Wednesday. The Knights are now 15-3 on the season and 3-1 in Iowa Conference play.

Senior Krystal Graves (Cedar Falls) had a team-best 12 kills and junior Aryn Jones (Marion) had a career-best nine kills. Sophomore Maria Brown (Peosta) had 23 set assists and senior Emma Harmeyer (West Des Moines) finished with 16 as they co-ran the offense. Senior Jamie Farley (Cedar Falls) had 25 digs. Harmeyer had a double-double as she tallied 14 digs and freshman Kathryn Nasby (Jackson, Minn.) finished with 11.

The first set was tied a number of times, including at 16-16. The Orange and Black then went on a five point run to build their lead for good.

The score of the second set remained tight and Wartburg was able to claim that one with a service ace by Nasby and a kill from Graves to end the Kohawk's late threat. The Knights struggled to find a rhythm in the third set as Coe won 25-11.

The Orange and Black led 8-1 early in the fourth set, but the Kohawks battled back to knot it at 11 all and again at 21 all. Wartburg was able to seal the win on four kills and a Coe attack error.

As a team, the Knights held the advantages in hitting percentage (.236 vs .220), digs (76-66) and blocks (4-3).
