Box ScoreWHITEWATER, Wis.-- Northwestern-St. Paul defeated Wartburg 3-0 Friday in the NCAA Tournament Second Round match. The Eagles won 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20. This marked the first time the Knights advanced to the Second Round since 2010 and fourth time in school history they moved out of the first round.
"We could not stop their offense which was very unlike us," said co-head coach Jennifer Walker. "I am still very proud of this team and our seniors. It was a great season."
The Orange and Black ended the season at 31-6 and won both of the Iowa Conference Regular Season and Conference Tournament Championships.
Senior Krystal Graves (Cedar Falls) had a team-best 12 kills as she led the offense. Classmate Kaity Brouwer (Dike) and junior Claire Willenbring (Dyersville) each had seven kills in the match. Brouwer was named to the All-Tournament team in the regional.
Senior Emma Harmeyer (West Des Moines) tallied 20 set assists and sophomore Maria Brown (Peosta) had 15 as they co-ran the offense in the 6-2 formation. Willenbring had a team-high 10 digs and freshman Lizzy Blough (Dike) led the team at the service line with two aces.
In the first set, UNW used a late rally as it scored four straight points to claim the frame as it was tied at 22 all.
Farley ends her career with 1,831 digs which ranks fourth-best in program history. Other senior career superlatives to come in the season recap story.
