WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg volleyball team moved to 14-2 on the season and 2-1 in Iowa Conference play with the 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-9) sweep over Central Tuesday.
WARTBURG vs. CENTRAL HIGHLIGHTSSenior Krystal Graves (Cedar Falls) had a team-best nine kills on the night. Sophomore Maria Brown (Peosta) had 14 set assists and senior Emma Harmeyer (West Des Moines) had 11 as they co-ran the team's offense. Brown also had a team-high three service aces while Harmeyer followed with two.
In the first set, the Knights jumped to an 11-4 lead. In the second set, the score was tied six times which included 20-20 until the Orange and Black pulled ahead at 22-21 and scored three straight points to win that set. Wartburg compiled a 15-5 run at the beginning of the final set and tallied nine straight points to complete the sweep.
As a team, the Knights held the Dutch to a .000 team hitting percentage in both the first and third sets.
WARTBURG vs. CENTRAL FULL GAMEThe Orange and Black are off from competition this weekend and return to the court next Wednesday as they host Coe at 7:30 p.m.
