Four Score in Double Figures in Loss to Simpson

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Four Wartburg players finished in double figures in the 80-75 loss to Simpson Wednesday. Junior Jordan Cannon (Bollingbrook, Ill.) led the team with 17, classmate Nick Webber (Peosta) followed with 15, sophomore Nate Woeste (Atkins) had 11 and freshman Cam Kickbush (Reinbeck) recorded 10.

Woeste led the team on the glass with his five rebounds.

The Storm led 47-36 at halftime but the Knights outscored them 39-33 in the second frame and came within three points with :29 to play in the second half on a layup by Woeste. The Orange and Black immediately fouled to put Simpson at the line to try to get the ball back..

The Storm missed both of the free throw attempts and Wartburg came down with the rebound with :17 to go. Unfortunately, Wartburg was unable to run a play and turned the ball over to Simpson with five seconds left. The Storm then made both free throws to make it 80-75 and the Knights were unable to run another play.

As a team, the Orange and Black held the team advantages in field goal percentage (.510 vs .456), three-point field goal percentage (.500 vs .333) and free throw percentage (.708 vs .704).
