WAVERLY, Iowa—The Knights (15-5 overall, 4-1 IIAC) defeated Loras (9-12, 1-6) 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-23) Tuesday night in Waverly.
With the win over Loras, the Knights are tied with Luther for first place in the Iowa Conference.
Wartburg was led by sophomore Lizzy Blough (Dike) with 12 kills.
Junior Aryn Jones (Marion) had four blocks (three solo, one assist) on the night.
While co-running the Knights' offense, sophomore Mallary Erbes (Urbandale) and junior Maria Brown (Peosta) tallied 21 and 18 assists, respectively. Brown earned the 1,000 assist of her career in the match.
For the Orange and Black's defensive effort, sophomore Kathryn Nasby (Jackson, Minn.) recorded 25 digs.
Erbes and Nasby each had two service aces.
For the Duhawks, Danni Kennedy led the front row attack with 14 kills.
Claire Ritchie led the offensive effort with 23 assists.
Loras' Haley Bergan led the defense with 33 digs.
The Knights held the advantage in solo blocks (7-4) while Loras held the advantages in kills (51-49), assists (46-45) and block assists (10-4).
The Orange and Black and the Duhawks tied in service aces (5), digs (84) and total team blocks (9).
